Introduction

We are pleased to partner with you in building your Company’s handbook.  Creating an employee handbook helps you comply with federal, state and local laws and is part of our broader commitment to help clients achieve their compliance goals.  This document provides an overview what you can expect during the handbook creation process.

What can you expect?

Interview Phase

On our initial call we will discuss the handbook creation process. During this phase we will partner with you and walk you through the navigation of the questionnaire.  We anticipate that this introduction will take 30 minutes to complete .   

If the following policies apply to you please have them prior to beginning the interview:

  • Welcome Statement
  • Holidays
  • Vacation
  • Sick Leave
  • Paid Time Off

At the conclusion of this call you will have the choice to schedule an additional interview session or you may continue to build the handbook through the software self-directed at your convenience (we anticipate that it will take most users 3-4 hours to complete).  If so, please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions as you work through the interview process.   You may access your handbook at any time to continue self-directed.

Key Policies

As the interview phase progresses you will see that certain policies are not editable.   This is because we believe these policies are critical policies that should not be materially changed and in some cases the same policies exist in the ADP TotalSource Basic Employment Policies document and therefore should remain consistent.  

Revision Phase

Once you have answered all of the interview questions you will have an opportunity to revise the policies.  Revisions can be made one of two ways; (1) As a policy is created the handbook builder will display the policy which can then be edited during the interview phase or (2) all policies can be reviewed at the end of the interview phase and revisions made within the software at that time. 

Review / Publication Phase

During the Review / Publication phase if you have chosen to build the handbook in whole or in part self-directed then you may choose to have the handbook reviewed or you may choose to simply publish the handbook. 

The authors of this product prepared these handbook provisions so that they would comply with applicable federal and state laws.  For this reason, we strongly advise against any modifications to the handbook policies unless directed during the interview phase questions.    If you have made changes to policies we recommend that you request a review of the handbook by our handbook team by clicking the “request review” icon.   A member of our handbook team will contact you within 72 hours to discuss your handbook.

Alternatively, you may click the “publish” icon to bypass the review process.  If you bypass the review process your Company is solely responsible for any changes to the handbook policies.

Note that if you have worked with your dedicated handbook representative throughout the entire handbook creation process then your handbook representative will simply select the review option to record that the handbook has been reviewed during the creation process.

In all cases, you will have the ability to publish the final handbook on MyResource by notifying your handbook specialist at totalsource.ssc@adp.com.
